
Dr. Delroy (Del) L. Paulhus
Dr. Delroy (Del) L. Paulhus is a Canadian personality psychologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia whose research has shaped how we understand response styles and the so-called “dark personalities.” He developed widely used psychometric measures including the Balanced Inventory of Desirable Responding, over-claiming questionnaires, spheres of control, the FAD scale for free will beliefs, and the Short Dark Triad (SD3) and Short Dark Tetrad (SD4) assessments of psychopathy, narcissism, Machiavellianism, and sadism. His work spans over 150 publications, is cited over 58,000 times, and has influenced studies in impression management, self-enhancement, aggression, trolling, and personality assessment. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and Canadian Psychological Association, and received honors including the Killam Faculty Research Prize and the Klopfer Award from the Society for Personality Assessment.
