Dr. Ron Levant
Ronald F. Levant, Ed.D., ABPP, earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology & Public Practice from Harvard University. He has held academic positions at Boston University, Rutgers, Harvard Medical School, and Nova Southeastern University, where he served as Dean. Currently, he is Professor Emeritus at The University of Akron, where he was Dean of the Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences.
A former President of the APA (2005) and Editor of *Psychology of Men and Masculinity* (2007-2015), Dr. Levant has authored or co-authored 19 books and over 250 peer-reviewed articles. He is renowned for his research on the psychology of men and masculinities and developed several psychological measures, including the Male Role Norms Inventory (MRNI) and Normative Male Alexithymia Scale (NMAS). His "Normative Male Alexithymia" hypothesis led to the creation of Alexithymia Reduction Treatment (ART), a psychoeducational intervention to help men engage more fully in psychotherapy.
